Sunset

Sunset
SUNSET

I love to leave the city
Or escape the country town
And feel at one with nature
As the sun is going down

In the dwindling rays of sunlight
There is usually just we three
There's the crunching of my footsteps
There's my shadow and there's me

Softening shades of sunlight's hues
Caress the path ahead
The branches rustle softly
As birds prepare for bed

But nocturnal hearts are waking
To greet the fading light
They'll gradually clear their sleepy heads
Then play throughout the night

I gaze fondly on the mountains
As the setting sun sinks down
For it seems to bless each mountain
With a dazzling golden crown

Lengthening shadows clasp the land
And herald the delight
That countless, wondrous, blazing stars
Will fill the sky this night

The sunset in its final stage
Is precious to behold
The sky of blue has yielded
To a rim of purest gold

And when the golden globe of sun
Descends into the west
The shimmering moonbeams will arrive
To put the day to rest

The countryside is perfect
for a moment such as this
The scents and sounds of bushland
Add a special kind of bliss

The gentle, velvet shades of night
Caress each bushland scene
And the soul feels deep contentment
For the world seems so serene

The beauty that is nature
Is free to everyone
And Nature flaunts her beauty
With every setting sun
