A Collection of Scattered Poems

My Rainbow in the Sky

Personal Page

Forgive me for having the impudence to include a personal pages on this site.
These are just a few of the numerous poems I have written at various times
while thinking about people who have enriched my life.

My Rainbow in the Sky
MY RAINBOW IN THE SKY

Two children playing
Around their mother's knee
The memory fills my very soul
And warms the heart in me

Two wondrous little children
That we'd love until we die
They filled our hearts with promise
Like a rainbow in the sky

Too soon they lost their mother
I don't know God's reason why
But while her children walk beside me
I know she'll never die

We lost her much too quickly
We couldn't even say goodbye
But she left her treasure with me
Our rainbow in the sky

They helped to fill the emptiness
And soothe the heartfelt pain
Through the beauty in their tiny hearts
I learned to live again

They let me share their childhood
And through their love and care
We built such wondrous memories
A gift we'll always share

And when the dark clouds gathered
I had no need to cry
Just by looking in their faces
I had a rainbow in the sky

The years have passed so swiftly
And now they're fully grown
But still they're here beside me
I'll never walk alone

Old age holds no terror
For in sickness or in health
I know I have a treasure
Beyond any human wealth

They've made this earth an Eden
And each day I breathe a sigh
That I walk so close to heaven
They're my rainbow in the sky

A young man and a woman
Who have banished every cloud
A young man and a woman
Who will always make me proud

And when I'm called to heaven
And God asks me for my worth
I will tell him of my children
Who brought sunshine to this earth

They're my present, past and future
They make my spirits fly
They're my reason for existence
They're my rainbow in the sky

They have fulfilled every hope and dream
This parent ever had
Their mother would be oh, so proud
Just like their grateful dad

I will always walk in sunshine
Until life bids me goodbye
Because they bestow upon me
My own rainbow in the sky
