THE SONG OF LIFE
Have you ever paused in wonder At a gentle summer breeze Have you heard the strains of music As it breathes upon the trees Have you stopped to watch the sunbeams As they danced upon a lake Have you walked in misty dewdrops As the dawn begins to break Have you marvelled at the artist Who paints the morning sky We could never hope to best him No matter how we try And the beauty of his sunsets Are a treasure to behold For his palette keeps the secret Of his wondrous hues of gold And the miracle and wonder Of a softly falling rain That will spread the greenest carpet On a dry and dusty plain Leaves red and gold in autumn And the first flower bloom of spring And the snow capped peaks of winter It can make the spirit sing There is beauty all around us There's enchantment in its touch But we live life in a hurry And alas, we miss so much We should heed to nature's heartbeat That surrounds us every day Savour all of God's creations And the music that they play Have you spied the graceful beauty Of a bird that's on the wing Have you ever paused to listen To the carols that they sing Have you caught the babbling laughter Of a tiny stream or brook There is wisdom in this magic That you won't find in a book It is nature singing softly "Come and spend some time with me And behold the many beauties That you seldom pause to see" Take a rest from all the termoil From your toil, and stress, and strife Lend your heart to mother nature As she sings her song of life K.D.
